The Little Bird and Her Million Colors (ことりとりいろいろのいろ, Kotoritori Iroiro No Iro) as named in the English dub by Sound Cadence Studios, also known as The Littlest Bird and the Colorful Colors in the English sub by discotek, as well as other naming variations, is a fictional children's book featured in Black★Rock Shooter 2012 TV anime.

Description

The Little Bird and Her Million Colors is depicted in a picture book format, with all Japanese text written in hiragana. The story follows a small white bird that flies around the world of many colors, but as it travels the colors on the wings eventually blend together, causing the bird to lose its hues into a black color. Ultimately it falls off the sky and dies.

Yomi Takanashi has the first edition of the book, which features a different jacket from the later editions.

History

Mato Kuroi has been an avid reader of The Little Bird and Her Million Colors before coming to middle school. There she becomes friends with Yomi Takanashi, who notices the bird-shaped charm on Mato's phone and shares a common interest of the book. Yomi then shows her self-drawn mobile wallpaper based on the book's first edition jacket, which Mato has not seen before. Although hesitant at first, Yomi invites Mato to her house and shows her the first edition of the book.
